Leica cameras are known to be pricey, and so was Leica FOTOS app with its $50 Premium subscription. But not anymore. Leica has recently udpated the app and from now on, all Premium features are completely free for all users.
The FOTOS app lets you transfer, view, and share photos, as well as remote control your camera. It has always been free to download, but the majority of its features were only available through a $50 yearly subscription plan. Leica brought the change quietly, and it’s visible in the app’s update history:
You can use the app to transfer photos from your cameras straight to your phone, control exposure and remote control your camera, and manage your camera settings. It lets you download full DNGs from your camera, and start and stop remote video recording. You can now also use the full iPad version of the app as well as Adobe Lightroom integration. Of course, you still need to have a pricey Leica camera, but at least you don’t have to spend the additional $50 a year to make use of all the FOTOS app’s features.
